Ruben Amorim has told Sporting CP fans that he will continue to coach the club next season.

The Portuguese tactician, linked with Liverpool following Jürgen Klopp's announcement that he is leaving, also held talks with West Ham last month.

Speaking after Sporting clinched on the Portuguese league title with two games to spare on Sunday, Amorim said: "I stay, I have a contract with Sporting. I dedicate it [league title] to all the Sporting fans. Now we will try to go for a third [domestic league crown since he took over]."

Amorim, 39, had previously said he could not guarantee that he would continue at Sporting next season.

At the helm of Sporting since March 2020, he has a contract with the Lisbon outfit until June 2026 with a €20 million ($21m) release clause set for foreign clubs.

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres, meanwhile, cannot promise he will remain at the club beyond this summer despite just one season at the club.

The Sweden international has attracted the attention of both Premier League and LaLiga clubs after scoring 27 goals and setting up nine more in 31 league appearances following his €21m transfer from Coventry City last summer.

"Stay next season? This is football, it's normal, I can't promise anything," Gyökeres said. "I would like to stay, I really like being here, I wouldn't mind, but in football everything happens very quickly and we have to adapt. I can't make so many predictions, it's difficult, there are still games left this season, then we'll see."

Gyökeres, 25, under contract with Sporting until June 2028, has a €90m release clause.
